As usual, my topic is less festive and more religious. The way I read Exodus, this lamp stand issue becomes more central to the confusion. First of all here were no candles in those days so forget candlestick. There were oil lamps however and I looked up some of these on google and noticed that they often have a reflector behind the flame. This would be to direct the light mostly and maybe shield the flame.I looked up menura and see hundreds of renditions none of which come close to the instructions given in Exodus.Why is any of this important? It clearly shows that this Holiday has been compromised, kind of like the Santa Clause thing.Im good with that as long as God is.His lamp stand was beaten out of a lump of gold into a sheet and bent into a cone like semi sphere reflector into which was tapped- engraved and bent all the features listed in the directions: the 22 bowls, the knops and flowers,the shaft and it's six branches. Those seven lamps were pushed over against it to reflect the light.
